About Us: 

BhuVee is an On-line platform for Sarees, Blouse Materials and Accessories - made by passionate weavers of South India.

All the products listed on the website are handmade on Pit or Frame Looms, assembled and embroidered by hand.

​

BhuVee networks and collaborates with artists and artisans, who belong to ancient, culture-rich regions of India and create fabrics/products that are traditional, eco-friendly, sustainable and organic. 

​

We integrate customers with weavers, artists and artisans and help these partners to be direct beneficiaries of the online market.

The Founder:​

Vrunda Sekhar is an Ilkal Researcher and Handloom enthusiast based in Bangalore.

 

Facilitating the right Marketplace for the Weavers of North Karnataka and bridging the gap between Weaver and Consumer have been her primary areas of engagement. Promotion and Marketing of Ilkal Sarees, as a must have for Indian women and propagation of Ilkal Sarees as a national weave of historical and cultural significance are also her other areas of work.

 

She is often on Media, both in Print and Electronic, championing the rights of the weavers. She is also involved in research and revival of long-lost design palettes of Ilkal Weave.

​

She is followed by a cross section of women on social media for handloom specific activities of Karnataka centric handloom sarees like Ilkal, Pattadanchu, Guledgudda KhaNa, Gomi, Kote, Molakalmuru, Karnataka Khadi, Charaka and Udupi Sarees. 

​

Vrunda holds a Masters Degree in English Literature from Mysore University, with a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations and Advertising from Bhavans, Bangalore. 

She has served as a Member of Janapada Loka, Ramanagara, Karnataka and as Ex. Vice President of Karnataka Handloom Council. She is a certified auditor of POSH.

 

A saree aficionado and a handloom lover, her interests include wildlife photography and Indian classical music.
